Kings Win in Dominant Fashion Over NJCAA Program

The LEAD Prep Kings started the 2026 season with a controlling win against the Hocking College Hawks. Through adversity in many facets, LEAD Prep showed out with a 35-6 win at the Legacy Center in Brighton, MI.

“We scheduled Ohio’s JUCO as a measuring stick for us, an NJCAA program with a good track record, and we’re really pleased with the production from our student-athletes,” General Manager Louis Adams said following the win.

“Adversity is a part of life,” said Head Coach Alex Grignon. “We control what we can control to the best of our ability.” QB, Davion Reese and RB, Mason Mansfield led the ground game as the ballcarriers, and Reese would score on a 15-yard rush that took 6 minutes off the clock.

Nearly 15 minutes later, on 4th & Goal, Northwood University transfer RB, Bryan Weathersby would be trusted with the rock and pushed into the endzone for 6 more points. Later in the 2nd Quarter, offensive linemen Sandale Jackson & Camari Bargaineer created a wide-open gap for RB, Mason Mansfield to score his first TD of the season. The defense prevented Hocking from scoring on a goal-line stand to take a 21-0 lead into the half.

The only score for the Hawks came at the end of a strenuous, 6-minute drive in the 3rd Quarter that included penalties against the Kings. A 4-yard QB keeper touchdown was the only blemish on a sound defensive performance by the Kings.

QB, Brick Sandridge IV led the passing attack, and WR, Mykel Collier-Dixon caught a bobbled pass in the end zone for the only passing touchdown of the day in the 4th. It took pinpoint precision and heavy concentration, as the pass was thrown with 3 defenders in the area.

Then, the exclamation point of the day was made by DB, Kamron Payne, as he intercepted a pass from Hocking and took it back to the house for a Pick Six. DB, Elijah Robinson secured an interception of his own on the very next drive, and that would cap off a dominant performance on both sides of the ball.
