LEAD Prep Academy Names Alex Grignon as Head Coach

Brighton, MI – January 16, 2025 – LEAD Prep Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of

Alex Grignon as the new Head Football Coach. This assignment marks the fourth head coaching

role for Grignon, who brings over 15 years of coaching experience at both the high school and

collegiate levels. As head coach, Grignon has achieved a career win percentage of 61%, with his

programs securing a league title, two district championships, and a regional championship, while

also earning personal recognition as MHSAA Division I Regional Coach of the Year at two different

programs.

Grignon’s leadership has led to impressive player development and exposure at the high school

level, with nine of his student-athletes going on to sign with NCAA Division I programs (four to Power

5 schools) and seven with Division II schools.

“I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to be the Head Coach at LEAD Prep Academy,” said

Grignon. “This is college football, and we will take pride in competing at a high level in everything we

do. We will build a sustainable culture rooted in passion, enthusiasm, recruiting top players, and

putting them in the best position to succeed. Our goal is for LEAD Prep Academy to be the premier

development program for college athletes in the country.”

Grignon joins LEAD Prep Academy after serving as Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at

Dearborn High School since 2021. During his tenure, he guided the team to its first winning record

since 2016 in his inaugural season and made the playoffs three out of four years. In 2022, he was

named MHSAA Division I Regional Coach of the Year. Prior to his time at Dearborn, Grignon was the

Tight End Coach at Michigan Tech University in 2020.

Prior to Michigan Tech, Grignon was the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Walled Lake

Western High School. His offense scored an impressive 537 points, averaging 41.3 points per game

during a 13-game season (11-2), falling just short in the state semi-finals with a heart-wrenching 57-

56 loss to the eventual state champions. In his two years at Walled Lake Western, Grignon led the

Warriors to a league title, two district championships, and a regional title. He was named MHSAA

Division I Regional Coach of the Year in 2021.

Grignon’s head coaching career began at Lincoln Park High School, where he ended a 66-game

losing streak and led the team to the playoffs in just his second season.

In addition to his coaching success, Grignon is well-connected in the state’s football community, currently serving as MHSFCA Division 1 Director and as a member of the East-West Michigan All-

Star Game committee. He also served as the Head Coach for the East in the Legacy All-Star Game for three consecutive years, boasting an undefeated record in the exhibition games.

As a student-athlete, Grignon was a standout player at Dearborn High School and earned All-State

1st Team honors before continuing his career at NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University.

“We’ve known Coach Grignon for several years and are confident that he is the right leader to take

this program to the next level,” said Louis Adams, GM of LEAD Prep Academy. “His leadership and

experience will be key to our student-athletes’ success. Our guys will love playing for him.”

“Coach Grignon is a worker, a recruiter, and a players' coach,” said Eric Figurski, Athletic Director at LEAD Prep Academy. “He will run an organized, high-performing program and put our student-

athletes in the best position to succeed, on and off the field.”

In addition to Grignon’s appointment, Interim Head Coach Denard Robinson will remain on staff in

an expanded role as Assistant Head Coach and Director of Player Development. Robinson will

continue to coach the running backs, while serving in an expanded role in recruitment, player

development, and fostering key partnerships for the program’s student-athletes.

“We thank Coach Robinson for leading us through this transition,” said Figurski. “He is an incredible

representation of LEAD Prep Academy in everything he does, and we’re excited to see him deliver at

a high level in his expanded role. The future is bright at LEAD Prep Academy.”

Grignon will officially begin his role as Head Coach immediately.
